Play It Again, Sam – Sprinkler Blowouts For Monday, October 15, 2018

Well yesterday was a sprinkler blowout disaster.  Early in my blowout route my motorized reel decided to throw it’s chain when there was still about 125 feet of hose out on the ground.  I called my assistant Jesse to leave his route to help me get the chain back on well enough to roll up my hose.  I tested it immediately and it fell off again, so I sent Jesse back to his route and I came back to my shop to work on it. I had to move the reel some, put supports underneath it and then remount the motor and tighten up the chain.  Not an easy t ask considering fully loaded the reel weighs about 300 pounds.

I will be back in business today, but unfortunately we will have to stay in Eagle again with both rigs to try and catch up.  This is one of the reasons I don’t like putting up a tentative schedule, because if something happens it can mess up an entire week’s schedule.  Usually it is due to problem sprinkler systems, or spending a long time trying to find where valves and such are.  I had that very problem today.   Sprinkler filter assembly box buried under 12″ of bark, and the shut-off valve tube full of bark.  It does say in our Terms of Service “I understand that I will make sure that valve boxes are uncovered and easy to locate by removing grass, weeds, bark, rock, or other items.”

I am trying to put together a tentative schedule, and when I get it finished I will post and let everyone know.  Making a tentative schedule based on our current list, can also be an issue when we get 30-50 new requests every day.  We schedule for a period of time in an area and then find we have 20-30 more in the area by the time we get to that date……….

I sent a request to be added to your blowout list about 2 weeks ago. This is just a followup as I did get a confirmation.

    Thanks – Jim
