Sprinkler Blowouts For Tuesday, November 20, 2018

You know that sucking sound you hear when you step in mud and sink a bit and then pull your foot out?  That same sound describes my day yesterday……….

I had 16 blowouts on my route yesterday, figuring they would go quickly since most were pretty close together, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.  The first 4 on my route were nothing but problems.  Not being able to find sprinkler mains, valves sunk in mud in the valve boxes, backflow preventers so corroded it was difficult to find a place to blow out from, etc.  The ones after that went fine, but by then it was too late.  The damage to the days schedule had already been done.  I know I keep saying this, but we pick up new followers every day.  “This is why we do not schedule appointments.”  Then I get bombarded in the morning with texts before I can even get out of my office, which also slows me down.  Today I am making a point to not answer texts unless it is an emergency, so I can actually get on the road at a decent time.

So there were about 5 I didn’t get to yesterday that I will take care of today and then move on to the area in the map below.  Jesse will be digging a 4-foot deep hole to get access to a frost free hose connection that we suspect is leaking that is only a few inches away from the sprinkler main and drain.  The water is moving at a pretty good pace, and if not dealt with right away it could turn into the need for Noah and his ark……..
