Sprinkler Blowouts For Friday, November 29, 2019

It was nice to get a day off from sprinkler blowouts, but I did spend a lot of the morning and late evening on paperwork including invoicing, routing, etc., emails, etc.  The job doesn’t end just because there is a holiday, unfortunately.

As I posted on Thanksgiving Day, the Google map I have been working with has decided to not automatically update the calendar on our site, so what you see may not be correct.  Normally I would take the time to figure out the problem and fix it, but we are so close to being finished now you will get more accurate information on this blog.

If there is snow accumulation this morning in Meridian we will wait a while to see if it melts off quickly before we take off for the day.  The sprinkler systems themselves will be fine, but we have plenty of customers that don’t follow the terms of service as is with making sure valve boxes are clear so we can find them, so finding them in the snow is not an easy task either, especially if they also have a covering of leaves or other debris under the snow.  If the snow doesn’t clear off, we will postpone a day and try again on Saturday.

Today we are back in the Meridian 83646.  We currently have 56 left in the zip code, and we will likely not finish today as I was hoping.  We have done as many as 60 in a day, but it is very difficult to do, and many of the ones left in the 83646 are ones we haven’t been able to find the address, find valve boxes that are supposed to be uncovered, or we keep running into locked gates.  Those things slow us down and make it very difficult to finish our routes.  Factor in that addresses toward the end of the season are not as close together as before, it adds more drive time to get to each location.

My route seems a little small, but most of these are on the hard to find list, so it could take me a while to get them finished.  If I do finish them I will be heading over to the area between Ustick and Fairview, and Meridian Rd and Locust Grove.  If Jesse and Jacob finish their routes they will be heading to that area as well.  I am not going to post the streets for that area because we do not know whether we will get to it or not.  Just going to try and work some of the area in today.
