My wife and I went out to dinner last night at Cafe Ole in Meridian and noticed a sign on the door saying do to labor shortage they would be closing earlier.\u00a0 I inquired about the shortage with our waiter and he confirmed early closing and said if I was interested in a position they need servers badly.\u00a0 We told him we are running into the same problem finding people to work. He was under the impression I was looking for a job.\u00a0 That is how hard-up everyone is for employees.\u00a0 He confirmed they had several servers who were using the “afraid to go to work” claim so they could get their unemployment.\u00a0 This isn’t how my generation was brought up.\u00a0 We believe in working to get ahead if we are capable, and not rely on handouts.<\/p>\n
So, yesterday didn’t go as well as planned, but we did get the locks, dishwasher, and backflows installed. Today Jacob will be on his own for at least half the day.\u00a0 I have to go with my wife to a pre-op appointment in the morning.\u00a0 She is getting back surgery on the 18th, so that will likely mess up my work schedule as well.\u00a0 We have family and friends to assist when she gets home after a 3-day stint in the hospital so I can continue to work.\u00a0 Recovery will likely take 3-4 months.<\/p>\n
Jacob is going to pick up what we missed yesterday and add some more in the 83706 since he will be in that area already.\u00a0 Wednesday we are going to work for a short while in Nampa and then tackle a main & drain repair in the 83716 as well as do a Package A while we are there.\u00a0 The main & drain jobs usually take around 6 hours or so to do.\u00a0 Unfortunately, we have about 7-8 more of the main & drain jobs to do but are scheduling them in order of severity so we can finish up our start-ups.<\/p>\n
Here is Jacob’s route for today.\u00a0 I will be helping in the afternoon either by going off on my own or riding with him to help him get through the route faster.\u00a0 That will be determined later this morning once I figure out how long the medical appointment is. This is a long list, but some of these are really small properties.\u00a0 We will see how it goes.<\/p>\n
