The guys had a rough start this morning getting the compressors going.\u00a0 For all of you long-time readers and customers, you probably remember me saying before that in this cold weather piping underground is safe for several weeks, but our machines are not so lucky.\u00a0 Condensation inside the hose freezes where no air can get out and we have to thaw out the ice by leaving the pressure on and heating up the metal end with our fitting in place by placing it near the compressor exhaust. As the ice melts the pressure forces it out of the business end of the hose.\u00a0 This can take a while and can be dangerous if ice shoots out at a high rate of speed and hits the technician.<\/p>\n
Because of this problem I have authorized the techs to start at 10 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. to give it a chance to warm up a bit outside. That is optional.\u00a0 The techs can start earlier than that if they want as long as they do their best to finish their routes by dark or a little after.<\/p>\n
