Spring and summer vanished in record time, like they had somewhere better to be. Next thing we knew, it was sprinkler blowout season all over again. One minute it was May, and then\u2014bam\u2014October rolled in like it had front-row parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, we\u2019ve got an all-new sprinkler blowout crew, but don\u2019t let the \u201cnew\u201d part fool you. Between them, they\u2019ve completed thousands of blowouts over the years. They might be fresh faces, but these folks know their way around a backflow and a compressor better than most people know their TV remote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ll have six rigs running this season\u2014five for the first few weeks while we wait on a new electric reel to arrive for Orange Julius<\/em>. We\u2019re in the process of retiring those red ReelCraft (or as we lovingly call them, ReelCRAP<\/em>) electric reels that we and half the industry have been fighting with for years. Last season, we tested a CoxReel on Blowzilla<\/em>, and it ran smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy\u2014no issues, no drama. So, out with the ReelCRAP and in with the CoxReels!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, I\u2019ll be holding down the fort in what the techs like to call \u201cThe Bat Cave,\u201d<\/em> keeping tabs on everything from behind my four-monitor command center. I\u2019ll admit, I miss being out in the field. Every year, a few long-time customers tell me they miss me showing up to swap stories from Sprinkler Blowout Land<\/em> and share a few laughs while their lawn ornaments get a bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019ll only have four rigs out today because one of our guys, Anthony, just became a dad! His baby boy arrived yesterday, and that\u2019s about all the \u201cofficial stats\u201d I\u2019ve got so far. If you\u2019ve got some newborn clothes collecting dust, I\u2019m sure he wouldn\u2019t turn them down.
