Yesterday was a decent day in Sprinkler Blowout Land. I interviewed a new guy who will shadow Joe today to brush up, especially on how we handle paperwork and billing. Hopefully, we’ll send him off on his own on Saturday. I had another interview set up for yesterday afternoon, and it was another no-show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I picked up our new reel and hose yesterday afternoon. That put nearly a $1,000 dent in my bank account….. Hopefully, In the next few days or so, I can get Jesse over to our shop and cut off the welds of the old reel and bolt\/weld the new reel in its place. It will be nice to have Orange Julius back on the road again. If only we had someone to run it. I am still plugging away, going through candidates from ZipRecruiter and Indeed. No matter how I set the parameters in both programs, I have to weed through a crapton of unqualified responses to get to the good ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, Ben won\u2019t be working today. His wife came down with strep throat, and the kids are home from school, so Ben\u2019s on dad duty wrangling the little ones \u2014 including a baby, if I remember right. My wife Sheila could catch strep from someone over the phone. Me, on the other hand, I think I\u2019m immune. I\u2019ve been around plenty of people with both strep and mono \u2014 including Sheila \u2014 and still haven\u2019t caught a thing. Either I\u2019ve got the immune system of a superhero, or the germs just take one look and decide to move on to easier prey. Personally, I think it\u2019s all the onions, jalape\u00f1os, and Sriracha I eat. Maybe I should bottle whatever\u2019s in my blood and sell it on Amazon \u2014 \u201cNow available in Extra Spicy.\u201d \ud83c\udf36\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I apologize I haven\u2019t gotten the calendar updated like I want. With all the upheaval of finding fresh blood to run our machines, I don\u2019t dare plan more than a few days at a time. Just because your zip code isn\u2019t showing at the moment doesn\u2019t mean we aren\u2019t going there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, I need to point out that when we\u2019re in a particular zip code for the day, we won\u2019t get to everyone in that zip code\u2014it\u2019s physically impossible with our workload. What I can<\/em> tell you is we will get to you. Some areas have 50\u2013100 requests, and there just isn\u2019t enough daylight (or caffeine) in a day to knock them all out at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers have asked why we don\u2019t just stay in one zip code until the area is finished. The truth is, if we did that\u2014especially in Meridian or the 83709\u2014we\u2019d still be there come Christmas. Maybe even next Christmas.
