Yesterday, a customer who had already canceled his blowout decided to spend the next 30 minutes texting me nonstop, demanding to know why he was still on today’s route. I kept explaining — repeatedly — that he wasn’t. After 20 minutes of trying to figure out why he insisted he was, I finally asked where he was getting his information. That’s when he sent me a screenshot of Eddie’s route. His proof? His street name was listed. This was in Boise’s 83704, one of the busiest ZIP codes we run, with 14 other homes on that same street. I guess I should’ve figured it out sooner, but the thought that someone might think they’re the only person living on a street never crossed my mind. My bad. We’ll start offering private street service just as soon as we buy the city. 😆

The routes went smoothly today in Sprinkler Blowout Land — only a few stops couldn’t be completed for one reason or another. The crew we have right now is absolutely solid; they’re the kind of guys who make this chaos look easy. If we could just clone two or three more of them, we’d be golden — maybe even have time to sit down for lunch for once.

I sent out messages to three possible candidates yesterday — and, surprise surprise, not a single response. Seems to be the new norm these days. They’ll apply for the job, look great on paper, and then vanish into the witness protection program the moment you try to set up an interview.

Honestly, I’m starting to think some of these folks are just making their “required contacts” to keep that unemployment check rolling in without ever having to lift a finger. Meanwhile, I’m over here trying to find people who actually want to work — a rare species these days, right up there with unicorns and honest politicians.

We’re starting to see the annual wave of cancellations roll in — it’s like clockwork every season. And, just like always, most of them come from new customers who apparently had no idea what kind of high-octane, mud-slinging, compressor-blasting operation they were signing up for. It’s not for the faint of heart out here in Sprinkler Blowout Land.

The veterans know the drill — a little waiting, a little weather, a little chaos — but the new folks? Some tap out faster than a cat in a bathtub. Maybe they thought “blowout” meant a spa day instead of a 185 CFM air compressor roaring down their street.

That’s okay though… we’ll just keep on doing what we do best — getting the job done, cracking jokes, and running through the chaos like pros. The way I see it, if you can’t hang with the big boys, there’s always next season to toughen up. 💨💪

Today we’re venturing to the far edge of the solar system — also known as the Outer Markers — tackling the out-of-area blowouts in Owyhee and a few neighboring counties. It’s like deep-space exploration, only with less oxygen and more goat fences.

We take on these distant runs because hardly anyone else will. Most companies stop where cell service ends — we just keep going until the GPS starts begging for mercy. 🚀💨

There may not be many houses out there, but those sprinklers deserve a fighting chance too. Around here, we don’t leave anyone behind — no matter how far off the map they are.

We’ve also thrown in a few Caldwell addresses, mostly because they’re along the route to those far-flung locations. Once we wrap up these out-of-area stops, we officially close those areas for the rest of the season. There just aren’t enough houses out there to justify a return trip — and after driving that far, we’re ready to see civilization (and a gas station) again.

Here are the routes for today:

Ben With “Leroy” in Meridian 83646

North Bolsena Avenue
West Torana Drive
West Lesina Street
Center Avenue
North Station Avenue
North Station Place
West Wapoot Drive
North Chimney Peak Avenue
West Milazzo Street
North Abruzzo Avenue
West Maracay Drive
West Alzano Drive
West Grassy Branch Drive
West Teano Drive
East Granger Drive
North Watersong Way
West Pudu Court

Eddie With “Purple Rain” in Meridian 83646

West Stephanie Court
West Higan Street
West Gemstone Drive
West Rebecca Way
West Chateau Drive
North Waterfall Avenue
North Rainycreek Place
North Monaco Way
West McGlinchey Street
West Sandalwood Drive
North Springtime Way
West Kingswood Avenue
West Chateau Avenue
West Delmar Drive
Northwest 9th Place
West Creekbury Drive

Joe With “Blowzilla” Working Melba, Marsing, Caldwell, Notus, and Ola

Stacys Landing – Melba
Idaho 45 – Melba
Zinfandel Lane – Caldwell
Old Bruneau Highway – Marsing
Bainbridge Street – Caldwell
Kremmwood Drive – Notus
Idaho Avenue – Notus
Harvey Road – Caldwell
Timber Flat Road – Ola

The One-House Neighborhood Mystery Every now and then, we meet someone who truly tests the limits of logic.
