Yesterday after working for 5 days one of our newest technicians has quit citing that the job was too demanding. Fortunately, his schedule was only for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, to help avoid overtime with other employees. Jesse is an exception. I give him all the hours he wants. He is superb at his job and is worth the extra expense. He is more like me than I care to admit. Definitely not afraid of work.
Sprinkler blowouts are not a really HARD job, but it is VERY demanding. I remember for several years running one machine by myself working 7 days a week during blowout season and then coming back to my office and spending hours adding in new requests, removing cancellations, doing a route for the next day, crediting payments, sending out invoices, etc. With four machines running now it would be impossible for me to run a machine and do four times the office work every day for 6-8 weeks. Healthwise, I just can’t do it anymore. 25,000+ sprinkler blowouts have taken their toll on my body.
The technician that quit was going to be working in the Boise 83713 on Sunday, so I have had to make some last-minute changes. I am going to have Jesse, (who already has 60 hours in this week) take care of the 7 sprinkler blowouts left in Eagle that our technician has left behind and then call it a day. We did have 3 new ones come in from Eagle today, but they will have to wait until our next pass.
Next week we will be swarming on Meridian, hoping to take out 60-80 sprinkler blowouts per day so we can get caught up. More on that tomorrow.
