Sprinkler Blowouts For Thursday, October 9, 2025

The routes ran a lot more smoothly today, although we did have one machine, “The Grinch,” down for about an hour while we topped off the hydraulic fluid and ran it through its paces to ensure everything was working correctly. Because of that little hiccup, we didn’t quite finish the route in the 83705, so we’ll add a few more from that zip code and wrap them up tomorrow for its first round.

Ben will be off for the next two days to take his daughter hunting for the first time — a trip he had scheduled long before the season kicked off. Joe will be off every Thursday for personal reasons but will make up his time by working Saturdays.

So, for today, it’s just James holding down the fort. on Friday, it’ll be James and Joe and MAYBE a surprise guest on a route. More on that tomorrow. Joe will handle Saturday solo, and then on Monday, we’ll be back to James, Joe, and Ben running full strength again. Still on the hunt (no pun intended) for 2–3 more techs to get this season running the way I want it.

My favorite machine, “Cyclone” aka “My Baby” isn’t really much of a baby, being a 250 cfm giant of a machine, but it was my machine way back in the day when I was actually out doing blowouts, is having a few little issues that need worked out and then we can get her on the road again. Seems she only wants to run if we keep the glow plugs button held in. If we let go, she sputters for about 30 seconds and then dies. I used that machine personally on well over 10,000 blowouts of my personal 25,000+ blowout career, and she is definitely a fighter. I am hoping it is just a solenoid or a relay of some sort.

She’s old, loud, and stubborn — kind of like her first operator………

I’m still waiting for the new reel, which is now two weeks late, and once it finally arrives, we can get Orange Julius back on the road. Currently, we don’t have anyone lined up to run OJ, but hopefully that will change soon. Jesse has done at least 5,000 blowouts with that machine over the years, so it’s definitely seen some miles — and plenty of air. More about Jesse later……

Anyway, here is the route for tomorrow:
