Sprinkler Blowouts For Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Everything went pretty smoothly yesterday in Sprinkler Blowout Land — which, as most of you know, is about as rare as finding a working sprinkler head after a gopher convention. Joe wrapped up our current list in Avimor, Dry Creek, and Hidden Springs, then capped off the day with a handful in Garden City.

Every year, we try to knock out all the blowouts in those three subdivisions in one big push. And every year, like clockwork, the day after we’re done, more requests roll in. It’s like they wait until we pack up just to keep us humble.

But that’s okay — we don’t leave anyone behind. Even if it means going back to areas we’ve already “cleaned up,” we’ll do it. Around here, déjà vu comes with air compressors, muddy shoes, and a strong sense of determination… or stubbornness. Hard to tell sometimes.

Ben had a solid day working the Boise 83709 — our third busiest zip code for blowout requests. The two Meridian zip codes still take the crown, making up about a third of all our jobs, but 83709 is hot on their heels. Seems like every sprinkler in that zip code knows when it’s blowout season and wants in on the action.

We had a few interviews yesterday for a sprinkler blowout technician and ended up hiring one who’s starting today. I’ve got another interview lined up this afternoon — right after I spend an hour with our tax accountant and pay her $500 to file a return where we owe $12,000. Ironic, isn’t it? Gotta love the system — paying to pay. Nothing says fun like shelling out money just to find out you owe even more.

We’re running all three rigs in the Meridian 83642 today, so if the new guy runs into any hiccups, someone will be close by to lend a hand — or at least offer some friendly “constructive criticism.” It’s rarely about the blowouts themselves, though. The real challenge usually comes from entering data into the awesome, proprietary system I built myself. 😆 Let’s say it’s not quite NASA-grade… but it works. 🚀
