It’s incredible — we can land a rover on Mars, chat with it daily, and stream its adventures in glorious HD. Yet, send a notification text across town and suddenly the message must pass through a secret committee of cell carriers who decide whether it gets delivered, delayed, or dropped into the abyss. Emails vanish without a trace, form submissions disappear into the void, and customers swear they “never got the message.” Meanwhile, the Mars rover just sent us another selfie.

That’s exactly why we have this blog — because here, we actually have control. When we post an update, it doesn’t need carrier approval, a CAPTCHA test, or divine intervention. It simply shows up. Unless the server goes down (which is about as rare as a Martian snowstorm), this blog remains the most reliable way to reach thousands of our customers at once. Who needs rocket science when a good old-fashioned blog post gets the message through every time?

Ben wrapped up his route early yesterday, thanks to a few locked gates and the ever-popular “I forgot to cancel” crowd — the kind of customers who keep our invoice printer from getting lonely. Interestingly, every single non-cancellation we’ve had this season (and they’re way down from last year) has been a brand-new customer. I don’t know why that is, but I suspect some of our newcomers treat online forms the same way they treat traffic lights — as gentle suggestions.

Honestly, I’m tempted to add a new clause to our Terms: If you check the box saying you read the terms without actually reading them, you owe me a Ford Bronco Raptor — fully loaded. A half-dozen or so of those would look fantastic lined up on the street, each one ready for a tech to roll out in style. Until then, we’ll settle for collecting a few non-cancellation fees and shaking our heads in unison.
