Sprinkler Blowouts For Sunday, November 9, 2025

First of all — happy birthday to my wife, Sheila!
We had her party yesterday, and as usual, I ate way too much cake. Between family and work, moderation clearly isn’t my strong suit.

We’ve got a big family, so it feels like there’s a birthday party every time I turn around — and yes, that means cake every time too. Last August we had five birthdays spread throughout the month (including mine), so we decided to combine them all into one big celebration just to keep things under control. It was the only way to survive the sugar overload!

Eddie knocked out his route like a champ yesterday, finishing everything except one stop where the valve boxes were hiding like they were in witness protection. He did some searching, but those boxes wanted no part of being found.

After wrapping up his own jobs, he jumped in to help Challis, who got a late start. Between the two of them, every single route was completed by the end of the day — which is always a nice way to wrap things up.

Unfortunately, the trifecta didn’t last. We had to send out two non-cancellation invoices — which is always a bummer, but part of the game this time of year. Still, overall, it was a smooth day in Sprinkler Blowout Land.

Ben’s out there today in his own zip code making up for missing Thursday and only putting in a half-day Friday. He’s on a personal redemption tour — and nothing says “weekend warrior” quite like hauling hoses while everyone else is still in pajamas.

He’s determined to get caught up and make sure everything evens out, which I appreciate. It’s not easy getting back into rhythm after losing a day and a half, but Ben’s putting in the work. I just hope he doesn’t run that diesel too low again — I can only play mobile fuel truck once a week before they start calling me “Diesel Daddy.”
