It took me over an hour yesterday to blow out a 7 zone system because of frozen condensation in my air hose. The sprinkler system blew out beautifully once I could get my hose clear. I had to keep unhooking the hose and putting the end over the exhaust on my compressor to melt the ice. While the temperatures are lower it may take us longer to complete our routes, which could end up adding another day or so to our season. Believe me, we want to be done as much as our customers want us to be done, so we will work as fast as we can.
We are at that point in the season where it is a one-shot only to get your sprinklers blown out. If we run into locked gates over this next week where we cannot do our job there won’t be a return trip like during the middle of the season. It isn’t fair for our customers to have to wait any longer while we make more trips to the same address. If we run into unaccessible gates or yards, I will put in a cancellation for that address myself and remove them from our list.
Today we are still working in the Meridian 83642 with 2 machines, and then we will have 3 machines in the 83709 on Monday. We may have to wait a while in the morning before we leave to make sure the temperature rises enough that we won’t have a problem with our hoses.
