Sprinkler Blowouts For Wednesday, November 3, 2021

I found out yesterday it doesn’t pay to be the best at what we do. After 50,000+ sprinkler blowouts completed, someone had to challenge us on how we were able to do the job even after showing a picture of the sprinklers being blown out.  Here’s the story…….

Apparently, a neighbor of our customer had a company come out and blow out their sprinklers so our customer asked if he could do hers as well.  Somehow, facts unknown, this person wasn’t able to blow out her system and gave her a reason why which I have no idea.  Along comes Jerry yesterday and blew it out like he would any other pressurized irrigation system. (Oh, and Jerry is new this year but is a quite intelligent 20-year-old) Although he is new, he still has blown out nearly 1,000 sprinkler systems already.  It doesn’t take long to be proficient with our company because of our workload.

Now, even with a picture showing the blowout being done she is questioning how the job was done.  Even to the point that she wasn’t going to pay for her blowout.  I reminded her of our policy regarding non-payment, late fees, liens, etc., and then I explained the process over again but for some reason, it wasn’t good enough. I think she was probably stuck on the information from the tech from the other company.  After an hour and a half of communicating back and forth through text, still no result, so I am having Jerry call her this evening and tell her the same thing we have already said.

So, what it comes down to is apparently is it can be a pain to be the best at what we do.  Just because a different company technician couldn’t do it, we weren’t expected to be able to either.  We run into systems every spring that weren’t blown out correctly by another person or company and there are extensive repairs needed. We call it job security. If we find one that we can’t blow out for any reason, you can bet no one else is going to be able to do it either. My son Jacob did his first blowout at 12 years old while I watched. It may be rocket science to some, but it isn’t to us.

We are on the cleanout phase of Canyon county.  The area has already been closed to new requests, and we have a few hundred in the county to service by Friday.  It’s going to be a fun few days.

So is each list the order they will be done in? Just wondering when to lock up the dogs.

Yes, but keep in mind that many times there are more than one on a street

Thank you! I’m at the end of the list and didn’t want to lock the dogs up all day. 🙂

We were at home all day today (W Redwood River Street), and I see we are in the middle of the route, but no one came.

Will you guys be here tomorrow? Just trying to plan accordingly and not miss you! Thank you.
