Yesterday was a rough day. One issue after another slowed us down. Even with that we visited all of the 83702 and had four left in the 83703 to finish. I say “visited” because there are a few in the 83702 and 83703 that we will have to go back to for some time-consuming repairs after we get most of our start-ups around the valley completed.
We are scrambling to get as many on city and well water going before pressurized irrigation hits most of the valley. City and well systems always take longer because we have to deal with main & drain valves and backflow preventers. Based on our current requests, we hope to finish up all the remaining start-ups in about 13 business days.
Jacob will get to the four today we didn’t make it to yesterday in the 83703 and then will head over to the Boise/Garden City 83714. We have a few to do in Avimor and Hidden Springs but are going to take care of those when we go to Eagle.
I am swamped with paperwork, so we are going to split up today so I can get a handle on some of it in the morning. We currently have 29 backflow test reports to complete and turn in, and I am behind more than I intended to be. Fortunately, according to State law, I have 15 days to get the passing reports completed and off to customers and the water purveyors. Any failed tests have to be sent in within 2 business days. It has been a good season so far because we have had only 2 fail out of 50 tests we have done over the past few weeks. I am currently only three days behind on the passing reports, so not a problem there. I may have to catch them all up with what we get today over the weekend.
I am planning on getting out to do some Package A and Package C start-ups since parts and extra time aren’t needed to just turn on the water and do backflow tests. Due to travel time, I probably won’t reach all of the ones on my route, especially when I will likely get a late start, but we shall see. Here is my route for today:
