Sprinkler Start-Ups For Tuesday, May 11, 2021

My wife and I went out to dinner last night at Cafe Ole in Meridian and noticed a sign on the door saying do to labor shortage they would be closing earlier.  I inquired about the shortage with our waiter and he confirmed early closing and said if I was interested in a position they need servers badly.  We told him we are running into the same problem finding people to work. He was under the impression I was looking for a job.  That is how hard-up everyone is for employees.  He confirmed they had several servers who were using the “afraid to go to work” claim so they could get their unemployment.  This isn’t how my generation was brought up.  We believe in working to get ahead if we are capable, and not rely on handouts.

So, yesterday didn’t go as well as planned, but we did get the locks, dishwasher, and backflows installed. Today Jacob will be on his own for at least half the day.  I have to go with my wife to a pre-op appointment in the morning.  She is getting back surgery on the 18th, so that will likely mess up my work schedule as well.  We have family and friends to assist when she gets home after a 3-day stint in the hospital so I can continue to work.  Recovery will likely take 3-4 months.

Jacob is going to pick up what we missed yesterday and add some more in the 83706 since he will be in that area already.  Wednesday we are going to work for a short while in Nampa and then tackle a main & drain repair in the 83716 as well as do a Package A while we are there.  The main & drain jobs usually take around 6 hours or so to do.  Unfortunately, we have about 7-8 more of the main & drain jobs to do but are scheduling them in order of severity so we can finish up our start-ups.

Here is Jacob’s route for today.  I will be helping in the afternoon either by going off on my own or riding with him to help him get through the route faster.  That will be determined later this morning once I figure out how long the medical appointment is. This is a long list, but some of these are really small properties.  We will see how it goes.
