Sprinkler Blowouts Are Coming Soon – VERY Soon

For those who know Jesse, he is back working with us since July 5.  We are glad to have him back.  We call him our “prodigal son” for those who know their scriptures……

I wanted to give everyone a heads-up that sprinkler blowouts will be starting 2-3 weeks earlier this season than last year since most areas with pressurized irrigation are going to be shut down early due to lack of an adequate water supply.

As our long-time customers know, we generally start around the 5th of October on city and well systems since they have backflow preventers with many of them above ground, and we want to get a start on those in case we get an early freeze.  Pressurized irrigation systems can usually go into the first week of December or later since the majority of the piping is underground.

We are also hiring, and need 2-3 people interested in doing sprinkler blowouts this season.  Pay is $20 per hour, and the applicant must have a reliable vehicle that can pull an air compressor, a smartphone to take payments and follow a route.  It will be 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime Monday through Friday, and can work on Saturdays if they want for the extra money.  Most of the time technicians do not drive more than 10-15 miles per day on their actual route once they get to their first destination.  I say that only  because if their route for the day starts in Caldwell and they live in Boise, there will be some travel time involved to get to the first job.  Anyone interested should send me a text at (208) 713-3170.  Even for a fall temporary job it would be some really good Christmas money.

Our sprinkler blowout form is live and ready to go.  We added a place on the form where those on pressurized irrigation can put the date the water to their neighborhood will be shut off.  This will make it easier for us to schedule to have this information at the beginning.  If you don’t know the shut-off date to your area that is fine.  We do so many blowouts that someone in your area will know when they sign up and we can add that information later.  When you know the date, just send us a text or email and we can add it to your information.

I guess we shall see how many people actually follow our blog by seeing how many sign-ups we get from this post.  I will be sending out a min-newsletter within a week or so.  It won’t be our full newsletter because we will have very little time between now and when we would like blowouts to begin.  It will be interesting to do sprinkler blowouts when it may still be 80 degrees or more………

For those who wish to sign up now can do so here: Sprinkler Blowout Sign-Up Form

Did we get you taken care of? I apologize, but we don’t check this blog very often unless it is during sprinkler start-up or blowout season.

Our home is one year old and we are on Suez water. I entered “city” water, but I’m unsure if that was the correct response. We pay for all our water (no discounts) so that may not have been the appropriate answer. We have a 7 station system. Is there a place I can go to that shows when you may be here?

The area you live in is on city water for their sprinkler system. You most likely have a backflow attached to the side of the house connected to a wall hydrant, or it would be in the ground in a green box.
As for scheduling, we are working on a schedule now, but it is always tentative. A lot goes in to a blowout that can throw off scheduling quickly. When we do get a schedule up you can view it on our website on our sprinkler blowout calendar, but it will show zip codes only. We alert people here, by text, and by email the night before we will be showing up at your property. If there are more that 20 in a particular zip code to do at a time, not everyone will get their blowout on the particular day we are scheduled to be in the area. It could be the next day, or the following week. We try to get to the 83716 earlier in the season because it gets colder out there faster than some other areas, and many are on city water with backflow preventers above ground.
