Sprinkler Blowouts For Thursday, October 14, 2021

So an interesting situation from yesterday.  Jerry showed up on Waterstone at 6:30 p.m. and knocked so he could do the sprinkler blowout.  No one answered, so he tried to get through the gate and it was locked.  He marked it “couldn’t do” and put in the notes that the gate was locked and no one answered and went on his way as he was trained to do.  A short time later I get a text saying they had waited all day, unlocked their gate, put the dogs away, etc., and finally gave up and locked everything back up……

We are in a different zip code tomorrow, so we can’t go back for a while because we did everything we were supposed to do.  If we don’t make it to a location we could squeeze them in the next day, but when we were actually there and find everything locked up we aren’t going to come back the next day because it wasn’t our fault.  We followed what we were supposed to do.  So, my question is why they waited around all day when it clearly shows on yesterday’s post their street was only a few from the bottom. That means late in the day.  They got angry and canceled when I explained our policy.  Thoughts, anyone?  Comments welcome……

We had a good run yesterday in the Meridian 83646 and Jesse finished up our current list in the Boise 83702. (Disclaimer: All except any that we couldn’t blow out for one reason or another, or ones that signed up after we had already done the route.)  We will get to them on the next pass in the 83702.

I have a lead on another machine.  I will be checking it out Saturday morning, and if it’s as good as it appears I will be making the purchase.  I will need to outfit it with a reel and wire in the electrical, and then find someone to run it.  We are back hiring again!

Today we will be in the Meridian 83642 with all 3 machines starting out with a 35 zone blowout Jesse will be doing. What a way to start the day……..  That’ll wake him up!

I had some routing issues for today so the auto text didn’t go out until a little after midnight, but still plenty of time for people to know when they wake up in the morning to make sure gates are unlocked so the guys can do their thing. Most of the routes below are city water systems as we want to get to properties with backflow preventers as quickly as possible since irrigation systems can go much longer without issues in colder weather.

To answer your question, I didn’t know that you listed the addresses in order of when they are going to be serviced. That could be why they stated that they waited around all day. I also figure that if it is still light outside, no matter the time, someone can still be showing up to complete the job.

They are in order that we are traveling. Wouldn’t make any sense to list them any other way. The one thing I have pointed out before that I should point out here again for this season is I do list the streets, but there could be 2-3 or more on that street. It would be redundant for me to list each one several times. During sprinkler blowout season we definitely work until dark and many times later. That will happen more often when it gets dark at 5 p.m., so customers should expect that. We are NOT a fan of daylight savings time.

    Hello,
Can you please tell me when you will be on E. Kingsford Dr?

Watch our calendar, and if your zip code is on the day listed watch for a text the night before. If you don’t receive the text and your street isn’t showing on the blog, It will be on another visit to the zip code. We can only do so many in a day…..

This is my first time signing up with your company, as my neighbor highly recommended you guys. I didn’t know that if your street is listed towards the bottom of the list, that the tech can arrive late. I don’t recall seeing that information but then I wasn’t looking real hard either. I can see why the homeowner was upset. I might’ve been too had I waited all day. Personally, arriving at 630PM is late. I expect most service type appointments to arrive by 5PM, be it an electrician, plumber, etc. At least now, I know that the tech can arrive after my dinner time. LOL. Just my two cents……

Welcome to the Treasure Valley where there aren’t enough technicians to blow out sprinklers in a timely manner due to the growth. Fortunately, we are #1 in the valley for sprinkler blowouts, but unfortunately, that means each tech puts in 50-60 hours a week or more. We work from 8 a.m. until dark and sometimes later. Electricians, plumbers, etc., have a 9-5 job. Sprinkler blowout technicians do not if they expect to get the work done. But then again, electricians and plumbers don’t have 4,000 requests to get through in a 7-week period.
My point about the post is that why wait around all day for something that clearly isn’t going to happen until late in the day?

We are in 83646 and signed up on 10/6, but we weren’t on the list yesterday.

You weren’t on the list yesterday because your address didn’t come up in our routing this time around. We will be making several passes through Meridian as it shows on our calendar. We can only do so many in a day, and as of this writing have 226 to complete after having completed 199. We will let you know the night before as stated in our terms.
