Sprinkler Blowouts For Friday, November 16, 2018

Yesterday I had Justin working in the 83642 and Jesse in the 83709.  They made a pretty good dent in the areas, which makes it much more manageable now.  There were a few they couldn’t get to because of either  locked gates on Fallingbranch, or a German Shepherd on Mastiff that didn’t want Justin in the backyard.

Today Jesse and I will both work in the 83709, and then on Saturday we will both work in the 83642.  That will leave us just a little to get through on Sunday in both zip codes so we can either move on later Sunday, or fresh start on Monday morning.

On Monday Justin and I will split our time between the 83713 and 83704, following the same pattern as before to get the numbers down, but this won’t take as long.  The 83713 and 83704 have less combined than the 83709 did when we started our second pass.  After those are complete we are going to make a run through the remaining of Boise, (02, 03, 05, 06, 12, 16)  and then the 83714 before heading to Star, Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell, and Middleton.  After that we circle around again to pick up any remaining around the valley and close down for the season

I project having all blowouts complete that are currently showing by in a little more than two weeks.  Of course saying this we will no doubt stimulate more cancellations, but we are still getting three times the new requests as we are cancellations.

We are almost the only crew in town now still doing sprinkler blowouts,  so I have actually given it some thought about renting a machine for a week.  Most companies actually rent their machines and have turned them in by now because they either ran out of requests, or they are just tired of doing them.  Sad, really, considering there aren’t enough technicians around to handle the workload as it is.  If I was to rent one it would run almost $700 for a week, plus wages and fuel means around $250 per day in expenses.  15 regular blowouts a day would be about $450, so as you can see, doesn’t leave much cushion there in a business perspective.

Enough talk, time to get down to business.  I am stil having some issues with our mass texting, so the notifications have been going out about 7 a.m. each day.  We will surely get some last minute cancellations that didn’t send in the cancellation form, which means more work for me in the early, and then re-routing, billing those who chose not to comply, etc.   Those things is part of what takes me so long to get out of my office in the morning.

Below is the areas we will be working in today, including the area we will start in if there is any time after we finish our assigned routes.

Good evening! I was hoping to see you guys on Fairfield Ave in the 83709 today. Hopefully I’ll see you tomorrow before you move on to the 83642. Thanks
    Jeff

You were actually on our route today, but by the time we were to get to you it was too dark to see. I will make sure you are taken care of on Sunday when one of our rigs go back.

Hi there. I submitted my request a couple weeks ago and went a couple of emails. Would love a status update. Thanks Jason. Cougar creek 83646

We had just left the area when you signed up, but we will be back. I sent out an email to all customers who we have in our database as still needing service, so we can get a proper head count, so to speak. I really don’t like charging non-cancellation fees, so hoping those who no longer need service will send in their cancellation form to avoid the charge. Once I have an accurate count I can put a plan together. Based on our current amount of blowouts remaining we will be totally finished in 16 days.
