Sprinkler Blowouts For Monday, November 19, 2018

Interesting story:

We have been sending “Sprinkler Blowout Complete” notices to our customers by text once the job is done along with a picture showing the blowout in progress in the front to prove we were there.  A customer who just moved here from another country texted me, “Did you blow up my backyard too?”  Knowing what he meant, and since I have spoken to him before and knew he had good sense of humor so I said, “Well, DUH!”  He texted back, “I don’t know this word, DUH!  What does that mean?”  I said that is Enlish for, “You’re kidding, right?” He responded with, “Oh, I get it, Ha Ha, you Americans……..”

Never a dull moment in Sprinkler Blowout Land……..

We worked the 83709 and 83642 yesterday and cleaned up most of what we had left except for a few we couldn’t get to because of locked gates, and a couple new ones in the two areas.  We will work them in as soon as we can.  We have an issue  we are going to have to deal with for the remaining two weeks or so we have left on sprinkler blowouts.  As you know from reading my previous posts Justin had shoulder surgery 4-5 months ago, and was cleared for duty back at the end of September, but has had some issues come up with it while doing sprinkler blowouts.  He went to the doctor and found out he has a level 1 AC joint separation in his shoulder and will have to wear a sling for the next three weeks which put him out of the sprinkler blowout game for the remainder of the season.  Jesse can take over with massive overtime, but unfortunately he is not available today and possibly tomorrow, and may have a half-day job to do to  do on Wednesday to repair a main valve so the home can be blown out.  This is a rental, and usually do not mess with repairs during sprinkler blowouts, but this is for a management company that we have done repairs over the last 5 years for.  I may try to see if the owner of the job on Tuesday would be able to wait a little longer, or have him get someone else for the job.  Originally it wouldn’t have been a problem because Monday-Wednesday are his normal days off, but with Justin out of the picture there is no way to do it now.  What is means in blowout land is for at least the next 2-3 days instead of getting 30 or more blowouts done in a day we will only get 15 or so with me and one rig.  I’ll post any changes, but will definitely be on my own for today.

Those waiting on a schedule will have to wait a little longer while we figure all this out being down one man.  Jesse doesn’t mind the overtime.  He is very dedicated to his job, and works really hard to try and get these blowouts completed.

Below is a map of the 83704 zip code where all our blowouts are for the area, following by where I will be for the day.  Fortunately the 83704 is not very big, so blowouts are much closer together and should hopefully go a little faster.  The pin circled is the reason I am working this area of the zip code today.  He was signed up in the zip before anyone else, so I will work around his area.

Of course not! You’ll only get charged if you do not send in the cancellation form to take you out of our system so we do not put your on a route or worse yet, stop by your house when not necessary.

Steve, it sounds like you are really high ballin’-it busy right now. You are still in the 83704 zip code and working alone for a few days. I’m not nervous yet as I’ve drained my system and backed the valves off on my manifold 3/4 turn as you showed me last year. I don’t know when you’ll make it up here in the Columbia Village area [83716] but it sounds like another week or two anyway. I’ll keep checking your blog for updates. Now I submitted my blowout request twice because I didn’t see a confirmation the first time so you may have a duplicate for my address: (blocked by Admin) Whitman Drive 83716 (blocked by Admin). I appreciate you guys working so hard every day to get so many blowouts done, I’ll be watching for you to get to this area! Thanks, Steve!

Thanks, Don. I created a new page on my website several months ago with information on how to winterize your backflow preventer to empty it out while waiting for a blowout. You might check that out to make sure all is well. Sorry to see you signed up so late this year. I sent you a reminder email back in September as I always do. Had you signed up back then yours would have been done by now because we cleaned out the entire zip code of 33 blowouts that we had at the time on October 10-11. As you know, we don’t leave anyone behind, so will definitely get to you.

Hello, your blog stated that you have completed 83642 but a few due to locked gates. I submitted 2 request one for my home which you completed and one for my dads on Dvorak but I have not received an invoice for his. I know you are busy but I just want to make sure his did not get missed.
    Thank you for your time,
    Tera

We haven’t been to Dvorak yet. Although you put Dvorak as being in the 83642 on your form, it is actually in the 83646
