Sprinkler Blowouts For Saturday, November 30, 2019

UPDATE: 9:00 A.M., SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30,2019

The air temperature is currently 19 degrees, so although the ground temperature is still in the ’40s and sprinkler system lines will be fine, our air hoses do not work well in these temperatures because of the condensation put out by the compressors will freeze and block the airflow from the machines.  It won’t warm up to a good operating temperature until around noon.  I will send Jacob out around that time, but since I have an engagement I have to attend I may only get out for 2 hours today or possibly not at all.  Any stops on our route today that we don’t make it to will be resumed tomorrow.

END OF UPDATE

We only have 14 to go in the Meridian 83646 after the 42 we took care of yesterday.  We will get the remaining on our final sweep as we make our sweeps through the valley next week.  I have set up a script that tells me how many more days and hours we need to complete the sprinkler blowouts for this season, but I forgot to take Thanksgiving Day out of the equation so we will hopefully be completing our sprinkler blowouts for the season on December 5, not the 4th.  Depending on if we run into any issues along the way, it may end up being on the 6th as my earlier prediction.

Jesse will not be working today.  He will be celebrating Thanksgiving with his side of the family.  It must be nice to have two Thanksgiving dinners…………

I have to stop by about 2:30 today because of a prior commitment but will be back on Sunday as usual.  Jesse will be working Sunday as well. Jacob will be working the entire day today.  We also may get a late start anyway because it is supposed to be 19 degrees at 7 a.m. Although everything underground will be fine for sprinkler blowouts, our machines don’t like those temperatures too much.  The condensation in our hoses tends to freeze, and we can’t get the air pressure we need.  Most of the time when that happens I just put the end of my air hose over the exhaust pipe of my compressor to melt the ice build-up and try to finish the blowout before it happens again.

Our calendar is finally syncing again with Google, so ya’ll take a look and see where we will be and when.
