Sprinkler Blowout Season: When There Aren’t Enough Hours in the Day

There’s an old saying that there aren’t enough hours in the day. Whoever came up with that expression obviously owned a sprinkler blowout business in Idaho.

We’re only a few days into our 2026 sprinkler blowout season, and things are already moving at full speed. Our compressors are running, our technicians are covering the Treasure Valley, and the office is working overtime to keep everything organized.

Of course, Mother Nature doesn’t care how many sprinkler systems we have left to winterize. She’s perfectly content to send freezing temperatures whenever she feels like it.

And that makes staffing one of the biggest challenges of the season.

Wanted: A Few Good Sprinkler Technicians

We’re currently looking for one or two additional experienced sprinkler technicians to help us get through the fall rush.

The emphasis is on experienced.

Sprinkler blowouts may look simple from the sidewalk, but doing them correctly requires knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to recognize different irrigation systems and their quirks.

If you’re an experienced sprinkler technician in Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, or the surrounding Treasure Valley area and interested in seasonal work, we’d like to hear from you.

Behind the Scenes

Most customers only see the technician who arrives at their property. What they don’t see is everything happening behind the scenes.

Every evening, we review customer requests, organize addresses, plan routes, notify customers, handle questions, and prepare for another day.

We’re even using Google’s routing technology to help our technicians spend less time driving and more time winterizing sprinkler systems.

Unfortunately, Google hasn’t figured out how to make the day 30 hours long yet.

We’re still looking into that feature.

A Little Patience Goes a Long Way

We know everyone wants their sprinkler system winterized before freezing weather arrives. We want exactly the same thing.

Our crews are working hard, and we’re doing everything we can to get through the schedule efficiently.

As always, please remember that we do not schedule individual appointment times. We organize our routes geographically, and we notify customers the night before their scheduled service.

We appreciate your patience, your understanding, and your continued trust in The Maintenance Shop.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, there are more routes to prepare, more customers to notify, and probably a compressor somewhere that needs attention.
